The connections between them are then represented with. This includes solar panels, inverters, disconnect switches, sub-panels, and junction boxes.

First and foremost, the diagram shows all the primary electrical components. I would still draw it with source on top, and branches and OCPD’s below it with the end point of the scope of the drawing (IE to the last panel main breaker) on the bottom. A one-line diagram provides a core breakdown of a solar PV design, presented in a straightforward, easy-to-digest format. This isn’t exactly a standard one line diagram something like this article talks about is what you will typically see in a commercial/industrial setting but Resi is a different animal and maybe your example is more typical. Once you get over the huge learning curve of AutoCad it’s really hard to go back and use something lesser. It all depends on how frequently you need to draw stuff, and what sorts of drawings you are making. ElectroBIM is an add-in for Revit that will create a one-line or riser diagram for you based upon your electrical system. It used to be you could buy a perpetual license but it’s all SAAS now and stupid expensive. That said, if you are doing a lot of drawings in general something like Autocad LT will be far more capable. I posted this In a repost of this thread on the EE sub but for anyone wondering:īluebeam or Microsoft Visio can do a pretty decent job as well for less than an autocad license.
